Network Integrity & Compliance

Dealer Code of Conduct

To maintain the prestige of the Verified Dealer Network, all registered merchants must adhere strictly to the following professional and gemological standards.

Standard of Excellence

The Ceylon Gem Registry (CGR) operates as an exclusive, vetted network connecting global buyers directly with Sri Lanka’s premier gem merchants. Buyers trust our registry because of our uncompromising standards and transparent direct-commerce model. By operating a vault on CGR, you agree to uphold this legacy.

Standard 01

Visual Documentation Standards

Natural or Graded Lighting Required

Inventory must be photographed in neutral, natural daylight or under professional daylight-balanced (5000K-6000K) grading bulbs.

No Artificial Enhancements

The use of digital saturation sliders, artificial contrast enhancement, or generative AI filters is strictly prohibited. Media must accurately represent the stone's true physical appearance.

Focus & Inclusion Transparency

Images and videos must be crisp and in focus. Inclusions visible to the naked eye must not be intentionally obscured through deceptive lighting or angles.

Standard 02

Gemological Disclosures

Mandatory Treatment Declarations

You must explicitly state all known treatments. If a sapphire is thermally enhanced, it must be marked as "Heated". Beryllium diffusion, fracture filling, or glass filling must be explicitly declared.

Accurate Origin Claims

Only list "Sri Lanka / Ceylon" as origin when supported by verified documentation. If a stone was mined in Madagascar and cut in Beruwala, its true geographic origin must be accurately stated.

Standard 03

Laboratory Verification

Accepted Laboratories

We recognize reports from GIA, AGL, Gübelin, GRS, SSEF, and select NGJA-authorized local gemologists. Uploading forged, altered, or expired certificates triggers an immediate network ban.

Legible Report Uploads

When attaching a certificate payload to a listing, ensure the report number, carat weight, dimensions, and treatment conclusions are crisp and easily legible for buyer review.

Standard 04

Professional Buyer Relations

Prompt Inquiry Responses

Because CGR routes global buyers directly to your corporate WhatsApp, you act as the face of Sri Lanka’s trade. Responses to international inquiries are expected within 12–24 hours.

Honored Direct Pricing

The direct price listed on your CGR vault must be honored when the buyer initiates contact. "Bait-and-switch" pricing tactics destroy trust and result in immediate account suspension.

Secure Global Fulfillment

You are responsible for safely fulfilling negotiated orders. Utilizing tracked, fully insured shipping (FedEx/DHL) alongside proper NGJA export documentation is required for all international shipments.

Zero Tolerance Enforcement Policy

Ceylon Gem Registry continuously audits directory inventory and network communications. We enforce a zero-tolerance policy for:

  • Listing synthetic, lab-grown, or glass-filled imitations as "Natural".
  • Forging, altering, or re-attaching mismatched laboratory certificates.
  • Inventory Syncing Delays: Selling a stone and failing to mark it as sold or remove it from your CGR vault within 48 hours.

Violation of these standards results in immediate revocation of verified merchant status, permanent vault deletion, subscription forfeiture, and potential reporting to the National Gem & Jewellery Authority (NGJA).
